I’m very proud to announce that the Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai won the 2005 Nobel prize in Literature. The author received the prize for his visionary oeuvre, which, according to the Academy, affirms the power of art in the midst of apocalyptic terror. He is not the first Hungarian writer winning the prize in Literature as Imre Kertész also have been awarded for his roman Faithless in 2002.
Two years ago there were two more Hungarian awarded scientists: Katalin Karikó has been awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Medicine for the development of mRNA-based vaccine technology, which has been successfully used in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover Ferenc Krausz also has been awarded in Physics “for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter”.
So László Krasznahorkai is the 17th Hungarian Nobel prize owner which is quite a nice number regarding the population of our country.
Congratulations to all of them!
